Discover William Robinson’s Wild Garden at Gravetye Manor

Gravetye Manor

At the end of a mile-long private drive, through enchanting Sussex woods, is Gravetye Manor, a striking Elizabethan manor house built in 1598. The manor became a hotel in the late 1950s, and has since become known as a centre for culinary and horticultural excellence.

This exclusive reader day offers a unique opportunity to discover the history of the gardens and explore their beauty. In a fascinating talk, Tom will reveal who William Robinson was, what the Wild Garden means at Gravetye today and the approach to the garden restoration that Tom has undertaken since 2010.

After lunch, Head Florist Sharon Coote will demonstrate the creation of one of the dozens of arrangements she puts together daily for the manor and explain how she works with the gardening team to create the perfect cutting garden.
