Those who tuned into the BBC Gardeners’ World television programme during the 1980s and 1990s will remember the affable manner and down-to-earth style of presenter Geoff Hamilton. In 1983 Geoff founded Barnsdale gardens from scratch, and it soon became the new home of BBC Gardeners’ World.

To celebrate the gardens’ 40th Anniversary, Barnsdale are offering the prize of free entry and afternoon tea, followed by accommodation and breakfast in the newly refurbished The Barnsdale Rutland. Discover how Geoff transformed Barnsdale from a few acres of neglected pasture to the labour of love we know today, and learn how Barnsdale helped lead the way, having been peat and chemical-free for over 30 years.
